What is a Jacquard Loom?

Doti is an open source desktop jacquard loom which enables expressive textile production at home and encourages broader design literacy. Unlike other consumer looms, the weaver can create any pattern, unencumbered by pre-threaded harnesses. The Doti Project provides an alternative, technology-mediated model for the cottage industry of high quality textiles through the distribution of desktop looms.
